Mason Greenwood’s Exceptional Form Has Piqued The Interest Of Big Clubs

Mason Greenwood

Two European clubs have expressed interest in Marseille star Mason Greenwood.

The former Man United star, now 22, has quickly adjusted to life in France following his £30 million permanent transfer from the REDS.

After his move to Marseille at the start of the season, Greenwood has reportedly attracted big-money interest from two major European clubs.

Since signing a permanent contract with Marseille at the start of the 2024–25 season, the former Manchester United academy player has performed admirably.

After it was mutually agreed that Greenwood would leave United following their internal investigation into his conduct following his 2022 arrest, Greenwood had spent the previous season on loan at Getafe in Spain.

Unfortunately, he was arrested in January of that year on charges of attempted rape, assault, and coercive behavior. However, the Crown Prosecution Service later dropped the charges after key witnesses withdrew.

The striker’s move to Marseille was fraught with controversy. Before the deal was finalized, the mayor of Marseille, Benoit Payan, publicly opposed his signing.

Greenwood left his former team, Man United, and made a permanent move to Marseille.

He has been amazing since joining the team. After scoring five goals in his first three games, he was named the club’s player of the month for August.

Consequently, his exceptional performance has piqued the interest of a number of potential suitors, with Barcelona expected to join the race to sign Greenwood.

According to reports, the Catalans would make it a top priority to sign Greenwood at Camp Nou in order to strengthen their attacking ranks in time for the 2025–26 season.

In order to entice him back to Spain, Barcelona are said to be willing to pay up to £60 million.

Paris Saint-Germain, who are also interested, may, however, vigorously oppose Hansi Flick and co.

It is reported that PSG sent scouts to watch Greenwood play in their upcoming match at the Orange Velodrome at the end of the month.
