Matheus Cunha, a Brazilian attacker, is almost ready to sign a £62.5 million contract with Manchester United. Cunha has thus far scored 14 goals and provided four assists, making him a standout player for Wolves.
Reports indicate that negotiations are nearing their conclusion, which has given his move to Manchester United a significant boost.
Despite Wolves’ generally subpar play this season, Cunha has emerged as one of the season’s breakout players with 14 goals and four assists in the Premier League.
Under Vitor Pereira, Wolves’ comeback in the top division has been largely attributed to Cunha’s performance.
For a large portion of the season, big clubs have been buzzing about; in January, Tottenham and Arsenal were also mentioned.
Nevertheless, United showed interest and are now prepared to pay £62.5 million to sign him as their first summer acquisition.
Globo said the parties’ negotiations had made “substantial” progress and are currently in the final stages, according to reports from Brazil.
If the purchase goes through, Cunha is also excited about the possibility of being a major contributor to Ruben Amorim’s reconstruction.
Man United Leads The Race To Sign Antoine Semenyo— Reports
The 25-year-old appears to have been persuaded by the possibility of playing a significant part in Amorim’s squad overhaul, despite Newcastle United being one of the strongest suitors for Cunha’s services and wanting to use him on the left side of their attack.
Meanwhile, the United manager was also spotted in conversation with Cunha after United and Wolves met at Molineux and again in the tunnel at Old Trafford on Sunday.
They have also held discussions over Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Red Bull Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and Benjamin Sesko, Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace and Antoine Semenyo at Bournemouth as they draw up lists for all scenarios.
