Matilda Asante-Asiedu Is Bank Of Ghana’s New Second Deputy Governor

The Bank of Ghana has appointed Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu as its second deputy governor. In compliance with Section 17 of the Bank of Ghana Act, 2002 (Act 612), President John Mahama announced her appointment today, April 28, 2025.​

The position benefits greatly from Mrs. Asante-Asiedu’s extensive experience. She was the Group Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana PLC before this position, where she oversaw a number of projects, including the acclaimed “W Initiative” that promoted women’s financial inclusion.

She has held important positions in brand management and corporate communications throughout her career.​

She has an MA in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University (2005) and an MBA in Marketing from GIMPA Business School (2021). She has also finished executive programs at the Wharton School and Oxford University’s Saïd Business School.

The Chartered Institute of Bankers, Ghana, qualified her as a Chartered Executive Banker in 2024.​

She is well-positioned to make a substantial contribution to the leadership team of the Bank of Ghana due to her varied experience in banking, communications, and media.​

She has a broad educational background that includes banking, marketing, and journalism. Additionally, she graduated from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom with a Master of Arts in Journalism Studies.

In addition to her official degrees, Mrs. Asante-Asiedu has expanded her knowledge by enrolling in executive education courses at several universities, such as the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

Her multifaceted educational journey has equipped her with a robust foundation in communication, strategic marketing, and financial services, aligning with her extensive professional experience in journalism and banking.​
