
Mauricio Pochettino, the former director of Chelsea, has been named as the new lead trainer of the US men’s national soccer team (USMNT).
For weeks, there have been rumors that the American men are being led by the 52-year-old.
In a statement, US Soccer Sporting Director Matt Crocker said,
“Mauricio is a serial winner with a deep passion for player development and a proven ability to build cohesive and competitive teams.
“His track record speaks for itself, and I am confident that he is the right choice to harness the immense potential within our talented squad. We are thrilled to have Mauricio on board as we embark on this exciting journey to achieve success on the global stage.”
Meanwhile, contract details have not been revealed at this point by US Soccer.
As per the US Soccer, Pochettino represents a huge inspiration for the US and will bring a high level of coaching experience to the team.
The Argentine was Chelsea’s manager for the most recent season, leading the team to sixth place in the Premier League.
Pochettino has also quite been the lead trainer of Tottenham Hotspur and Paris Saint Germain (PSG), where he led PSG to a Ligue 1 title.

His appointment as the US coach will be his first introduction to international administration, and he will be entrusted with leading the US team at the FIFA World Cup on home soil in 2026.
Pochettino joins the US after past lead trainer Gregg Berhalter was sacked after a frustrating and an early exit in the Copa América tornament in July.
Pochettino would likely be on the touchline for the USMNT match against Panama on October 12.
