
Cameroon football legend Henri Patrick Mboma, has been named Ambassador of the country’s football national team – the Indomitable Lions.
The former Cameroon striker’s appointment was made official on Friday June 10, following the signing of his agreement at the central command of the Cameroon Football Federation in Tsinga, Yaounde.
The twice TotalEnergies AFCON winner and Olympic gold medalist, has been continually present in the Indomitable Lions delegation for almost all their recent games. Patrick Mboma was the teammate of Samuel Eto’o Fils who is at present the Football Association President in Cameroon.
As part of Eto’o and other top football authorities in the Country, the former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward signed an agreement that will see him promote the Indomitable Lions brand for the next four years.
In his new job as Ambassador of the Lions, Patrick Mboma is supposed to go with the team in all their travels, provide valuable advice to the players and coaches and also work with the marketing department of the Cameroon national team.
According to FECAFOOT president Samuel Eto’o, what Ambassador Mboma is entrusted to do, is to bring back every one of the individuals who served Cameroon Football.
“One of the greatest Cameroonian footballer is Mboma. I had great honor to play with him for quite a good time and today he will accompany our team, and bring some experience, leadership and his advices to our coaches.

“Welcome back home and I think in the course of these four years, we will win many trophies,” Eto’o added.
Mboma won 57 caps for the indomitable lions between 1995 to 2004, scoring 33 goals.
“I am honored for the consideration. The mission that awaits is to carry the voice of the federation, the voice of Cameroon football,” the one time African Footballer of the Year said.
Since getting down to business in December 2021 as FECAFOOT president, Eto’o has given key positions to most of his former colleagues. Rigobert Song Bahanag was named the lions coach, with Augustine Simo being a part of the training staff.

During Mboma’s nine years international career with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, he won two TotalEnergies AFCON trophy in the years 2000 and 2002, an Olympic Gold award in Sydney 2000, and was voted African footballer of the year in 2000.
