
Make-A-Wish America announced on Wednesday that Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan will make a record-breaking $10 million donation in honor of his 60th birthday.
In the foundation’s 43-year history, this donation is the largest ever made by an individual.
Jordan, who turned 60 on Friday, February 17, hopes that others will be inspired to support Make-A-Wish by his donation.
Jordan’s foundation and Make-A-Wish have worked together for 34 years to help a lot of kids smile and be happy.
Meanwhile, The “Last Dance” jersey worn by Michael Jordan also sold for a record $10.1 million.
Jordan said,
“I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true”
Jordan’s first wish was granted in 1989. According to the organization, he has “granted hundreds of wishes to children all over the world.”

In 2008, Jordan was chosen to serve as an ambassador for Make-A-Wish “for the life-changing impact he has had on wish kids and their families.”
Jordan turned his birthday into a historic occasion for Make-A-Wish, thanks to his unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for children with serious illnesses.
Jordan played in the NBA for 15 seasons, won five MVP awards, and won six championships before retiring once more in 2003.
He has given millions to social and charitable causes over the years and has had lucrative endorsement deals with Nike, Hanes, Upper Deck, Gatorade, and others.
