Minneapolis Killing: Beyoncé’s Call For A Petition Attracts More Than 6 million signatures For George Floyd

On Monday 25th May, 2020, the U.S was set ‘ablaze’ as a black man, George Floyd was killed by a police cop while onlooker video recorded the occurrence of how the entire thing occurred.

The world irately reacted to the scene, as everybody was against the horrendous way wherein Floyd died in Minneapolis, because of the treatment meted out to Floyd before his last breathe on earth. Four U.S police officers who were associated with this homicide were completely fired within 24 hours.

The cop Derek Chauvin has been captured and accused of third-degree murder and second-degree homicide in the killing of George Floyd. Notwithstanding, President Donald Trump also called for an investigation into the case. People were irate to such an extent that they had to protest against that incident.

Thusly, one big name who has added her voice to the call for equity is American artist, Beyoncé. Her call is for the three other cops who persuasively limited Floyd during his capture, to also face the law. She thinks every one of them should similarly confront equity to help combat American racism.

She took to her Instagram page to post:

“We need justice for George Floyd,”. “We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We’re broken and we’re disgusted. We cannot normalize this pain. I’m not only speaking to people of color. If you’re white, black, brown, or anything in between, I’m sure you feel hopeless about the racism going on in America right now. No more senseless killings of human beings. No more seeing people of color as less than human. We can no longer look away”.

She continued:

“George is all of our family, and humanity,” she continues. “He’s our family because he’s a fellow American. There have been too many times that we’ve seen these violent killings, and no consequences. Yes, someone’s been charged, but justice is far from being achieved. Please sign the petition and continue to pray for peace, compassion and healing for our country.”

Beyoncé has nonetheless, asked fans to sign a Petition for George Floyd. The call by her has by and by gone over 6.3 million signatures and is at present clapped at more than 7,500,000.

The multiple award winning artiste has previously honoured Floyd’s name soon after his passing. On the landing page of her site, she showed a photograph of Floyd with the inscription “Rest in Power George Floyd.”
