The Men’s Olympic team of the United States made it to the Olympic knockout round for the first time since 2000. The expectation was to advance to the semi-finals. However, Morocco’s 4-0 victory over them dashed those hopes.

Morocco’s advancement came when Nathan Harriel gave away a penalty, kicking through Soufiane Rahimi in the box before the No. 9 nailed the spot kick into the bottom left corner with skill.
In the 59th minute, Miles Robinson had the best chance for the Americans to equalise when a cross from the left wing floated in and fell to him, but his shot went wide of the post.
The Atlas Lions dominated their opponents right from the start, playing with a sense of urgency and skill. They pressed hard and targeted their attacks.
Within minutes, Morocco added a second goal. Ilias Akhomach scored from close range after Abde Ezzalzouli squared it to him from the left side of the penalty box.
In the 70th minute, PSG star Achraf Hakimi added another goal. Before firing a shot into the top right corner, the right back made his way through the helpless United States defense.

Morocco’s last goal came in added time as El Mehdi Maouhoub scored one more penalty in 90+1 minutes, given for a handball in the box.
Meanwhile, Morocco defeated Iraq in the quarter-finals with a convincing victory of 3-0.
The victories against both Iraq and the U.S not only demonstrates Morocco’s credentials as serious Olympic medal contenders for Gold, but it also continues the nation’s recent football success, which began with their historic appearance in the World Cup semi-final in 2022.
Morocco’s coach, Issame Chara, was particularly pleased with the clean sheet after the victory over the United States.
