MOTAC Employees Educated On The RTI Law By The Commission

On Thursday, November 21, 2024, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC) staff attended a sensitization event hosted by the Right to Information Commission in the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Technology and Innovation conference room.

The goal of the sensitization was to inform MOTAC employees about the 2019 legislation known as Act 989, which established the Right to Information (RTI).

The Right to Information Commission’s Ms. Jennifer Owusu, Mr. Rafael Osei-Bonsu, Mrs. Cynthia Opoku-Konadu, and Ms. Nana Akua Afriyie Agyekum alternated in educating the staff.

The fundamentals of the Right to Information law were taught to the group, emphasizing important components like information access, pertinent facts about the Right to Information, and the steps required to obtain information.

The speakers also clarified the roles and authority of the Right to Information Commission, going into great depth about their directives, rulings, and orders.

They also talked about the idea of exempt information, which gives the restrictions on data access a thorough meaning.

The MOTAC staff developed a greater understanding of the importance of the Right to Information law by participating in talks and educational sessions.
