The Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez arrived in Madrid on Sunday, August 11, after signing a five-year contract that amounted to a staggering £81 million for his move to Atletico Madrid.
Two and a half years after moving from River Plate to City for £14 million, Alvarez, 24, will join the Spanish giants. This gives Pep Guardiola’s City a big profit on the Argentine.
With performance-based add-ons, the striker’s fee could rise as high as €95m (£81m) under the terms of the initial €75m (£64m) contract that Atletico has agreed to.
