With development teams in the UK and India and a headquarters in Northern Virginia, the ORAN Development Company (ODC) has taken a big step forward with a strategic partnership with MTN Group, Africa’s largest telecommunications operator that offers revolutionary connectivity solutions for the continent from some of the world’s most crowded cities to rural villages.
The two businesses hope to create and test cutting-edge Open RAN (ORAN) solutions that are suited to the particular needs of networks throughout Africa.
This partnership upholds MTN Group’s dedication to offering high-quality, reasonably priced telecommunications across the continent, with more network flexibility made possible by cutting-edge Open RAN architectures.
MTN Group connects over 280 million customers across 16 African markets. MTN has been at the forefront of implementing cutting-edge technologies to address connectivity issues and satisfy the particular requirements of its varied markets, all with the goal of spearheading digital solutions for Africa’s advancement.
In order to test real ORAN solutions and improve network efficiency, scalability, and agility, ODC and MTN Group are starting collaborative lab innovative projects.
In order to guarantee optimal performance and a smooth integration into MTN Group’s current network infrastructure, the companies intend to carry out lab and field trials as part of this initiative.
In order to reduce operating expenditures (OPEX) throughout the network, MTN Group will also assist ODC in optimizing ORAN software and platform development using artificial intelligence.
