Mzbel Thinks It’s Time To Go Hard On Cyberbullying

Mzbel

Mzbel, a famous Ghanaian singer, has spoken out against the growing number of cyberbullying and the inappropriate use of social media in general.

Mzbel revealed during her appearance on Accra FM that she has previously taken legal action against bloggers and a journalist and has herself been the target of online harassment.

She said, she didn’t disclose it after the suit at the time since those involved (the bloggers and a journalist) learnt from their mistakes and have apologized.

As per the controversial singer, social media has become a platform for damaging people, including character defamation and the spread of deception.

Also, she scrutinized online sources for their inclination to publish unverified stories, forfeiting editorial integrity for misleading content.

She has therefore advocated for greater online accountability and urged the government to implement stricter legislation to curb cyberbullying and promote a safer online environment.

Mzbe went on and on, and said that numerous people are abusing social media and using it for evil purposes.

“Irrespective of the caliber of people, netizens will find a way to disrespect someone…Social media has become like a weapon,” she said.

Mzbel’s call adds to the growing concerns of Ghanaian entertainers about cyberbullying.
