NAACP Awards: KiDi Nominated For The First Time

Award winning artiste KiDi has procured his first global nomination at the 2022 National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NACCP) Awards with his ‘Touch it’ hit tune.

‘Touch It’ which is a single tune from his ‘The Golden Boy’ collection was selected in the Outstanding International Song Category.

KiDi is in the same category as Wizkid with ‘Essence’, Fireboy with ‘Peru’, Tiwa Savage with ‘Somebody’s Son’ and Omah Lay with ‘Understand’.

‘Touch It’ was released in May 2021 ahead of his subsequent collection; ‘The Golden Boy’. In five months, ‘Touch It’ set another standard by becoming the most streamed Ghanaian tune ever on Spotify.

Presently, it has 37.6 million streams on Spotify. It topped at #11 for ‘World Digital Sales’ on the global music ranking platform, Billboard.

On the official UK Afrobeats chart, the song peaked at #7. A few weeks after the release of the song, it started charting in 51 countries on Spotify and 49 countries on Apple Music including India, Costa Rica, Columbia, and the Netherlands.

The music video for the huge hit right now has more than 17 million on YouTube.

The 53rd NAACP Image Awards was announced in a virtual show on NAACP’s Instagram channel hosted by actress Kyla Pratt, Black-ish actor Marcus Scribner and singer Tinashe.

The winners will be announced during the two-hour live TV special, which will be hosted by seven-time NAACP Image Awards winner Anthony Anderson, airing on Saturday, February 26th, 2022 at 8:00 PM ET/PT on BET.
