After refusing to board the team bus when he learned he would not be starting, former Liverpool player Naby Keita has been told he must leave his new club Werder Bremen.

Keita wouldn’t board the team bus ahead of a crucial game when he figured out that he wasn’t named in the starting lineup, so he got pissed and chose not to join the team.

Despite the fact that his contract is in effect until the summer of 2026, it appears that he will not remain with the club.

The club insists that the best course of action would be for the player to leave, despite the player’s claims that he has apologized for the incident.

Keita won numerous awards while playing for Liverpool, including the Premier League and the Champions League.

Keita is exiled from first team and moved to a new club after an awful season.

After his contract with Liverpool expired in June 2023, Keita signed with the German team as a free agent.

The 2018 signing of the midfielder for Liverpool resulted in 129 appearances for the Reds, during which time he scored eleven goals.

Keita played only five times for Bremen last season, with injuries affecting him.

When the Guinean international learned that he wouldn’t start against Bayer Leverkusen, who would go on to win the Bundesliga, in April, he was disappointed.

According to reports, Keita refused to board the team bus for the game, which resulted in his exclusion from the first team and club suspension.

Keita must leave, according to Ole Werner, Bremen’s head coach.

Werner stated,

‘I do believe that we have been very, very humane and very, very transparent with him at all times since he joined us”.

‘Keita is not our issue right now, and I believe that it’s best for both sides to simply look ahead and into the future, to see what good solutions Naby can find for himself and what solutions we can find without him.’

Werner stated that he is unaware of Keita’s claim that he has apologized for the incident.

Werner stated, ‘It could be that it somehow happened in the meantime, it just wouldn’t have reached me.’

Keita recently stated that he is not a dishonest player. According to the Guardian Keita said:

‘In my last year at Liverpool, I didn’t play much and when I arrived here, I was motivated. We’ll have to talk about the bus incident one day, but everyone who knows me knows that I’m a professional and that I’m not undisciplined”.

‘Despite everything, I apologised to the group even before the end of last season because we’re all human and nobody’s perfect. Wherever I’ve been, from Salzburg to Leipzig to Liverpool, I’ve always tried to be exemplary.’

‘A lot of people say to me: ‘Naby, you’re injured, why don’t you want to play for Bremen?’ I say: ‘No, I’m fine.’ Since I came back from the Africa Cup of Nations [in February], all I’ve wanted to do is play for the fans and the club. But it’s not up to me.

‘The club decided to put me with the under-23s. I’m training with them and helping the youngsters while I wait for the wheels to turn. The fans have shown me a lot of love and they deserve to see me return that love on the pitch.’
