Nana Aba Anamoah, a well-known Ghanaian broadcaster, said Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s strategy for dealing with illegal mining, or “galamsey,” was the most practical she had ever heard.
On October 11, she made these remarks in an X post.
She expressed her support for Dr. Bawumia who, in her opinion, offer a long-term solution to the environmental problem that has afflicted many parts of Ghana for a long time.
Nana Aba asserts that Dr. Bawumia’s approach demonstrates a deeper comprehension of the complexities involved and provides realistic strategies for battling galamsey (illegal mining).
She believes that the Veep’s plans could be successful in addressing the problem’s underlying causes if technological interventions are included.
As a result, Nana Aba urged Ghanaians to support measures that will protect the country’s forest reserves and waterways, emphasizing the significance of sustainable development over the short-term benefits of illegal mining.
However, her position did not go sit down well with a number of internet users who believe she is a double-dealer.
Users have criticized her on X since the post. In point of fact, she has been the target of a number of attacks, some of which have called her names.
Galamsey Fight: Partisan Politics Is A Big Problem!
However, she believes that these attacks will not alter her position regarding the post about the Vice President’s plans for illegal mining. She reacted to the attacks saying:
“When it comes to politics, I stand by everything I post. Calling me names won’t change anything. If you’re hurt, get a stiff drink.
“Both parties always attack me. It’s normal for me. I’m not your stooge like some people – that’s why it hurts. I know”.
