“Abeiku” was all over and on the lips of pretty much every Ghanaian including children. “Abeiku” was a tune with a decent instrumentation backed with an incredible story where a step child is the focal point of discussion in the melody. The mild-mannered songwriter/musician was exceptional since the very first moment of his entrance to the music business.
The late singer won the hearts of everybody with his smooth ditties. Growing up in Kumasi in the Asante region of Ghana, he had constantly wanted to be in front of an audience performing to people, therefore he started his melodic journey with another well known vocalist and keyboardist, Alex Konadu. Alex who was known as ‘One Man Thousand‘ was similarly phenomenal as a Hi-Life performer.
Nana Tuffour later joined the Wanto Wazuri Band as a piano player. As an artist with an excellent vocal capacities and interesting style of singing, 9924 later became the front man of the Waza Africo Band. From that time, he consistently advanced in his melodic vocation. After some time, he left for Nigeria where he started working with renowned Nigerian artist King Sunny Ade as his keyboardist.
In 1979 he released his first album “Highlife Romance” and has since released close to fourteen other hit albums. He has won numerous honors with his collections.
