National Security Seize Gold And Counterfeit Money In A Special Operation In Accra

Twelve 20-foot shipping containers in Sapeiman, an Accra suburb, contained a sizable quantity of US dollars and Ghana Cedis, including counterfeits, according to National Security Ghana.

After a tip, a special operation was carried out at a warehouse in Sapeiman, Ga South Municipality, where the containers were tracked.

The well-hidden cash, primarily US dollar bundles, was discovered in cement-filled wooden boxes.

Additional currencies hidden in boxes sealed with charcoal and barricaded with plywood were discovered when other boxes in the warehouse were opened during the sting operation.

Two containers remain missing, but state security trackers are actively looking for them, according to the National Security personnel working on the operation.

A manhunt for four suspects, including a ringleader who goes by the name “Alhaji,” is currently in progress.

Even more startling search were made in the warehouse, including boxes of metals thought to be gold bars, phony Ghana Army uniforms and boots, and counterfeit 50 and 100 denomination Ghana cedi notes.
