NATO Extends Tenure Of Jens Stoltenberg After A Successful Stint

Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Jens Stoltenberg announced on Tuesday that his term has been reached out for a further year to October 1, 2024, following a decision by the coalition’s 31 member states.

Stoltenberg tweeted:

“Honored by #NATO Allies’ decision to extend my term as Secretary General until 1 October 2024. The transatlantic bond between Europe & North America has ensured our freedom & security for nearly 75 years, and in a more dangerous world, our Alliance is more important than ever.”

Since 2014, the 64-year-old Norwegian has been NATO’s 13th Secretary General. He previously held the position of 34th prime minister of Norway from 2000 to 2001 and again from 2005 to 2013. He is a member of the Norwegian Labour Party.
