NCA To Introduce A New Shortcode For Ghana Card Verifications

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has made it clear that it will build a system that will let people check how many SIM cards are linked to their Ghana Cards.

Recently, there have been more reports of numbers linked to Ghana Cards, and many people are pleading for a uniform and straightforward method for verifying these numbers.

Consequently, the NCA stated in a social media post that it had actively engaged the various telecom networks in the launch of a shortcode that would enable subscribers to verify the number of SIMs linked to their Ghana Cards.

“The NCA and the Telcos have already been actively working on a short code for Individual Subscribers to verify the number of SIMs associated with a Ghana card; you just type the shortcode on your phone, and after a verification process using your Ghana card pin, the number of SIMs associated with the Ghana card will be displayed.” the post read.

Ghana Card To Be Available To All Ghanaians Before…

According to the NCA, the shortcode will be ready by the end of April 2023, eliminating the need to wait in a queue at the various telecom service centers for verification.

However, once the testing has been completed and approved, subscribers will not need to physically visit the telco to verify their numbers. The shortcode will be operational by the end of April 2023.

The Ministry of Communication began the SIM re-registration in October 2021 in what vice president Mahamudu Bawumia said is to get rid of the country’s cyberspace of fraud, monitor and track down persons who use their phones for criminal activities.
