NHIA Launches Nationwide “Free Annual Health Checkup” Initiative

The “Free Annual Health Checkup” is a national program that the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has started to encourage preventative healthcare in Ghana. The primary causes of death in the nation are chronic illnesses and non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which are the focus of this campaign.

All Ghanaians who are 18 years of age or older, regardless of whether they are enrolled in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) can participate.

Services to Be Offered:

• Blood pressure testing

• Blood sugar (glucose) testing

• Body Mass Index (BMI) measurement

• Counseling and referrals as needed

Accessibility is guaranteed regardless of location or socioeconomic background as a result of availability of services at certain public and private health facilities across the country.

Eligibility:

Anyone with a Ghana Card and all NHIS-covered persons are eligible to participate in this exercise.
