NPP Is The True Definition Of Short Memory— ASEPA Director

Mensah Thompson, the Executive Director of the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA)

The ruling government is after all former government officials for alleged financial malfeasance and poor management since President Mahama took office.

Recently, the National Investigative Bureau (NIB) (formerly BNI) invited a number of people, including Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi, former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, “Abronye,” and others, to respond to questions about certain corruption cases.

Before this, the President assigned the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) Team to look into and ensure that they retrieve any state property that the previous administration might have stolen. They finished the job and submitted the list to the President.

In addition to the aforementioned, the ruling government recently revoked the appointments of a large number of public sector employees who they believe were hired at the wrong time. President Mahama claims that they are conducting investigations and will then reinstate each employee’s employment.

NPP officials are furious about all of these happenings and more, claiming that it is a witch hunt against them. In fact, some former NPP government officials have launched a vicious attack in self-defense.

Mensah Thompson, the Executive Director of the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), responded to this by saying that he finds it surprising that the NPP is reacting angrily with impunity.

During a phone conversation with Accra FM on Monday February 24, Mensah Thompson said some people, including himself, are even unhappy with the way the NDC government is favoring these dishonest former government officials.

“NPP members are the true definition of short memory. To be honest, some of us are even upset about how softly these people are being treated. You realize that what they are going through right now is nothing at all when you look at the crimes they committed and the suffering they caused Ghanaians. They haven’t yet seen anything”.

“They are even lucky, we have a soft President like John Mahama. He is a diplomat, and so he believes in leadership by diplomacy. The NPP is yelling because the President doesn’t want to make arrests in the “Rambo” style.

“They even have the courage to open their mouth to speak and even scream on top of their lungs, which is surprising”.

“If the ruling government decides to go hard after the NPP, for what they’ve done to Ghanaians and their political opponents, they can’t stay in Ghana. So where from all these hypocrisy and double standards”

Speaking about his experience as a victim of the NPP government, Mensah Thompson described the abuse he endured while they were in power.

“As someone who works in public accountability, I received information from a reliable source that the daughters of former President Nana Akufo-Addo were partying and cruising in Ghana’s presidential jet with their friends during the Christmas festivities— a jet Nana Addo rejected but proceeded to rent another one at a cost of more than $300,000 per hour.”

“Therefore, I posted it on Facebook. I never made fun of Nana Akufo-Addo or his daughters. I only stated that the daughters shouldn’t be given such state property to abuse. The next moment, I was humiliated after being detained and placed in the females cells”, Mensah said.
