In a candid and emotionally charged video posted on Tuesday, Ghanaian cleric Bishop Daniel Obinim, founder of the International God’s Way Church, announced his complete severance of ties with fellow pastors across the country. The the self-proclaimed “Angel” of God lamented about the pervasive ingratitude and “wickedness” he claims to have encountered from those he once supported.
Speaking directly to the camera from what appears to be his church office in Accra, Obinim said.
“I have helped countless pastors in Ghana—financially, spiritually, and with advice—but not one has shown me the appreciation I deserve,” he declared, his voice rising with frustration. “They fear that acknowledging me will make their church members run to my ministry. But let me tell you, people are ungrateful and wicked towards those who lift them up.”
Obinim, known for his flamboyant style, dramatic prophecies, and past controversies including legal battles over alleged fraud and assault, detailed specific instances of betrayal. He recounted providing seed funding for church plants, offering platforms for joint crusades, and even interceding in personal crises for several high-profile men of God. Yet, according to him, these acts of benevolence were met with silence or outright hostility once the beneficiaries achieved success.
Why God Gives People Second Chances And Forgiveness
“Why wait until I’m dead to post tributes on social media?” Obinim asked rhetorically, shaking his head in disbelief. “That’s hypocrisy at its worst. Show appreciation now, while the person can see it and feel it. Post about them today, invite them to your events, credit them publicly. Don’t be like these pastors who bite the hand that fed them.”
“To everyone watching—family, friends, business partners—honor those who have impacted your life immediately. Life is too short for regrets and fake love.”, he added.
This isn’t the first time Obinim has publicly clashed with Ghana’s vibrant Pentecostal scene. In 2019, he famously “sacked” all his branch pastors in a live broadcast, accusing them of disloyalty after one of his associates defected to rival preacher Reverend Obofour.
