The Minister for Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam (MP) has officially launched the Climate Financing Division (CFD) at the Ministry.

The CFD is expected to play a critical role in unlocking both domestic and international financing to accelerate the national climate action priorities, particularly in advancing the implementation of the Nationally Determined Contributions, the National Adaptation Plan (NAP), and the newly launched Ghana Green Finance Taxonomy.

In his Keynote address, the Finance Minister said,

“Today marks a significant step in our national journey towards building a sustainable and climate-resilient economy. Our reasons for taking this step are not far-fetched either. Over the past few years, the world has seen the strong but sometimes brutal linkage between a rapidly changing ecology and the economy.”

The “CFD Division will elevate our climate finance initiatives, enabling us to attract international funding, partner with domestic and external private sector investors, and implement projects that promote green growth,” he added.

The programme was attend by Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Dr. Stephen Amoah(MP), Resident Manager for African Development Bank Group (AfDB), Chief Director, Eva Mends, CEO, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre – GIPC, Commissioner General GRA, Controller and Accountant, and the Deputy CEO for the Forestry Commission Ghana.

Others included representatives from the Energy Ministry, partner institutions – GIZ Ghana, UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Tony Blair Institute, as well as Directors and Staff of the Ministry.
