
Ola Källenius, the chairman of Mercedes-Benz Group AG’s board of management, has been chosen by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association’s (ACEA) board of directors to serve as the organization’s 2025 president.
Källenius is entrusted with addressing these global geopolitical and macroeconomic difficulties and enhancing the competitiveness of the European automobile sector. Luca de Meo, the CEO of Renault Group, who has served as ACEA president since early 2022, is replaced by Källenius.
Ola Källenius conveyed his appreciation and highlighted his future goals:
“ACEA is one of the most relevant and trusted industry voices in Brussels. I’m honoured to be taking over from Luca de Meo as ACEA president at such a critical moment for Europe’s automotive industry. Thank you to the members of ACEA for placing their trust in me, and to the entire ACEA team who are tirelessly bolstering the standing of our industry with the political institutions in Brussels”.
“During my presidency, ACEA will focus on improving regulatory conditions with the goal of sharpening our competitive edge in the digital and electric era. We will work towards fostering a market-driven decarbonisation of our industry. And we will champion international trade that is free, fair and rule based”.

One of the original members of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), which was established in 1991, was Daimler-Benz.

The group now brings together the 14 largest auto, truck, van, and bus manufacturers in Europe. ACEA promotes laws that encourage creativity, competitiveness, and environmental responsibility in order to propel the long-term expansion of the European automotive sector.
