Omar Marmoush’s Move To Manchester City Is Complete

Manchester City has acquired Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt.

The deal is £59 million (€70 million) plus an additional £4.2 million (€5 million) in bonuses. Marmoush joins defenders Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov as Pep Guardiola’s team’s third January transfer acquisition.

After scoring 15 goals in 17 games for the Bundesliga team this season, the Egyptian joins on a four-and-a-half-year contract. He is City’s third January window acquisition after Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov.

Marmoush, who joined Frankfurt on a free transfer from Wolfsburg in July 2023, arrives after just 18 months.

“I’m so happy to be here,” he said. “Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in the world over the past 10 years, so it was not a question. It is an honour the club showed an interest in me and now I’m here. The last two seasons have been great, but it is just the beginning for me.”

This season, Marmoush has contributed to more goals than any other player in the Bundesliga, including Harry Kane. He is a quick and intelligent player who plays in the front three.

However, the 26-year-old claims to have played a variety of positions. He typically plays left wing for Egypt’s national team. However, he played No. 9 at his previous club, occasionally at 10 and even at 8.

“But I feel most comfortable behind the striker in the No 10 position where the way to the goal is quicker – or shorter I should say – so I am comfortable in all positions. But wherever I play, I will always give my all to try and help the team.

“My main strength I would say is that I always want to win – that is from a character point of view. On the pitch, I am fast, good on the ball, I try to see where the spaces are and exploit the spaces – and I’m dangerous.”
