One Of The Fastest-Growing Charging Networks Is The “Mercedes Me Charge”

One of the biggest charging networks in the world is Mercedes-Benz’s “Mercedes me Charge” network, which has formally started providing users with access to over 2 million charging stations.

Around 500,000 charging stations were added by Mercedes-Benz in the first three quarters of 2024, marking a record increase since the “Mercedes me Charge.”

A separate charging contract with a chosen third-party provider is necessary in order to use the Mercedes me connect service “Mercedes me Charge,” which handles billing and payment for charging sessions.

A personal Mercedes me ID and acceptance of the terms of use are prerequisites for using Mercedes me connect services, which were introduced in 2019 and are specifically applicable to high-power fast charging stations with a capacity of more than 150 kW.

With a single ‘Mercedes me Charge’ contract, users can access more than 750,000 charging stations across Europe. 98 percent of all public charging stations in Germany are covered by ‘Mercedes me Charge’.

In October, Mercedes-Benz broke multiple records and continued to grow its charging service.

Today, more than 1,600 different charge point operators operate more than 2 million charging stations across the globe as part of the ‘Mercedes me Charge’ network.

The charging service is now available to consumers in 32 countries on four continents thanks to its expansion into Australia and New Zealand.

With a single ‘Mercedes me Charge’, customers can charge at more than 750,000 locations throughout Europe.

Over 250,000 of the 2 million charging stations are high-power fast charging stations, meaning they have a minimum capacity of 150 kW. One of the charging networks with the quickest rate of growth is the “Mercedes me Charge network.”

More new charging stations than ever before were added each month on average in 2024—55,000 on average.

Since the start of 2024, the percentage of high-power fast charging stations has grown by 55%, while the percentage of AC/DC charging stations with less than 150 kW has increased by 31%.

Around 150,000 charging stations from over 800 operators, or roughly 98 percent, are combined under the “Mercedes me Charge” program in Germany.

In Germany, the network provides convenient access to about 20,000 high-power fast charging stations spread across 6,000 locations.

The network gives Mercedes-Benz customers peace of mind regarding the range of their vehicle by enabling them to locate the next charging station.

The entire charging procedure is simple and easy to understand. Users can easily access and use charging stations from multiple providers in a consistent and convenient manner with a single charging contract.

As a car manufacturer, Mercedes-Benz is able to completely incorporate its digital charging service into the car, making it easy to use through the Mercedes-Benz smartphone app or the MBUX multimedia system.

If no electricity from renewable energy sources is available, Mercedes-Benz makes sure that an equivalent amount of electricity from renewable energy sources is fed into the power grid for charging processes in Mercedes me Charge in the US, Canada, and Europe.
