Oprah Winfrey shared a picture of herself going for a beach run on her 70th birthday on January 29. The television legend said thanks to her well-wishers for all the birthday love and wishes.
The media mogul took to Instagram to share the video to the subtitle, “This is 70,” and said thanks to her well-wishers for the birthday love.
Winfrey has been down on the weight loss journey since her knee surgery two years back. She said,
“Weight fluctuations occupied five decades of space in my brain, yo-yoing and feeling like why can’t I just conquer this thing, believing willpower was my failing.”
“After knee surgery, I started hiking and setting new distance goals each week. I could eventually hike three to five miles every day and a 10-mile straight-up hike on weekends,” she said. “I felt stronger, more fit and more alive than I’d felt in years,” she added.
Oprah Winfrey revealed in a recent interview that the 1985 film “The Color Purple” changed the way she saw her life.
The TV legend also discussed the stigma associated with her weight. Being the person who is always monitored by people, Winfrey felt awkward.
She also recalled a time when the employees of the shop would make her feel embarrassed by saying,
“Let me show you the gloves. Would you like to look at the handbags? Because we know that there’s nothing in here for you.”
Winfrey said that exercising and living a healthier lifestyle have helped her control her weight better.
