Our Education System Should Be Protected From Politics— Asantehene

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the king of the Asante Kingdom, has demanded that Ghana’s educational system at all levels be sane.

His Majesty asserts that because the system is so important, it is imperative that it be shielded from political meddling.

During a February 12, 2025, meeting with the management of the Ghana Education Service’s Ashanti Regional Directorate, Asantehene stated that political actors’ decisions and actions should be guided by an educational policy.

“All I want is for our education to be devoid of politics. We should have a policy that all leaders come and continue.”

Otumfuo also used the occasion to order the Directorate to provide his Office with a thorough report that included the reasons behind the challenges encountered at the basic and secondary levels as well as suggestions for how to overcome them.
