
The Black Queens of Ghana made one more stride nearer to fitting the bill for the 2024 Olympic Games following their win over Benin on Friday October 27.
Gifty Assifuah came from the bench to score two goals after Doris Boaduwaa’s opener in the first half of the game as Ghana took a first leg advantage in Cotonou.
Coach of the Quuens Nora Hauptle named a solid squad for the game with a bleeding edge of Doris Boaduwaa, Vivian Konadu and Princella Adubea.
In spite of dominating the first half of the game, the Black Queens had to depend on a penalty late in the first half to break the jinx. Boaduwaa beautifully converted from the spot to give Ghana the lead.

Ghana headed into the break with only the one-goal lead. In the second half, Assifuah was brought into the game after the break, replacing Vivian Konadu.
She immediately announced her presence as she took advantage of a cautious mistake from the Benin defender to double Ghana’s lead.
She also got her second minutes after the fact with a good completion after a cooly gathered control from a long pass just outside the box, scoring Ghana’s third in the game.
Cynthia Konlan was saved by the assistant referee who raised her flag for Benin’s consolation goal to be ruled out for an infringement.
The game ended 3-0 win the Black Queens claiming a vital win with the second leg still to come. The reverse game is set to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, October 31.
