Paul Adom-Otchere On The Reasons Why These NDC Powerful Men Want Him Arrested

Paul Adom-Otchere

Good Evening Ghana host Paul Adom-Otchere has responded to recent demands for his arrest made by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), notably Officer Sammy Gyamfi.

He ascribes these demands to his critical analysis of the leadership and operations of the NDC. According to Adom-Otchere, his candid analysis has caused friction with Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Fiifi Kwetey, Sam George, and Asiedu Nketiah, among other NDC leaders. He thinks that because of his critical viewpoint, these people are trying to discredit him from his television platform.

According to Adom-Otchere, there have also been cases where NDC members have been sued for slander. He cited a case, for instance, in which the High Court ordered Sammy Gyamfi to pay GHC 500,000 to Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh for slander.

Adom-Otchere went on to add that during the said meeting, Sammy Gyamfi was overheard threatening to accuse him of embezzling Ghana Airport Company cash in his capacity as board chairman in order to allow the National Security to raid his home.

“Asiedu Nketia sees me as a media opponent who could jeopardize his ambitions since he wants to be the future president of Ghana. Conversely, Fiifi Kwetey wants me imprisoned for nothing more than making noise on television. I have heard he is so angry that he wants Paul Adom-Otchere to stop appearing on TV, especially when they are in charge”, Adom-Otchere revealed.

Joyce Bawa Mogtari has also joined the bandwagon, adding that “it will be a good accusation for him to be given a lesson if we tell Ghanaians he has diverted cash at Ghana Aiports.”

Prominent members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have recently criticized the seasoned journalist. He claimed that he is a prime target for these government officials.

Prior to the general elections in 2024, Adom-Otchere publicly questioned surveys that predicted the NDC and John Dramani Mahama would win. He criticized Mussa Dankwah of Global InfoAnalytics in particular, calling his forecasts unreliable.

Some NDC members considered Adom-Otchere’s previous dismissals to be prejudiced and unethical since the election results matched Dankwah’s forecasts.

Adom-Otchere reportedly visited the UK soon after the results of the NDC’s election victory were declared, according to reports.

Supporters of the NDC speculated and criticized his abrupt resignation, questioning his reasons and seeing it as an attempt to sidestep answering his pre-election remarks.

Interestingly, Adom-Otchere cautioned New Patriotic Party (NPP) members against criticizing the newly elected NDC government right away in early 2025.

He suggested that the NPP allow President Mahama’s administration time to settle before offering critiques.

While this advice was directed at the NPP, some NDC members interpreted it as an implicit acknowledgment of the challenges facing the new government, leading to mixed reactions within the party.

These instances have contributed to the perception among certain NDC members that Adom-Otchere’s commentary has been unfavorable towards their party, resulting in the current criticism directed at him.
