Over GH₵240 million in payments to an entity that has done business with the Electricity Company of Ghana and other several state institutions have been blocked, according to the NDC side of the transition team.

On Friday, December 13, 2024, the team stated that the payment is being withheld while the joint transition teams continue their discussions.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the spokesperson for the incoming government side, told the media following the first transition meeting that they were concerned about the outgoing administration’s impromptu, irregular hiring and payment practices.

The Bank of Ghana (BoG), Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and the Ministry of Interior are among the ministries, departments, and agencies he mentioned.

The spokesperson added that the incoming administration would suffer serious physical consequences as a result of these late recruitments.

The NDC transition team, however, believed that a more extensive consultation should have taken place prior to taking any such action. Particularly, since it would now be the duty of the next president to find the funds to pay all of these individuals and to work with them.
