Pia Sundhage has surrendered as the coach of the Brazilian national women’s football team. On Wednesday, August 30, the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) made the announcement. The Confederation says a new head coach would be appointed before long.
Sundhage, who drove A Seleção for a considerable length of time (4 years), leaves the position following Brazil’s group stage elimination at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™.

Sundhage was in charge of an evolution of the national team that points to a bright future, and that early exit represented a bitter disappointment. Unimaginable talents like, Ary Borges, Adriana and Kerolin have all emerged and are supposed to form the foundation of the Brazil side as they pave the way to the next FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2027.
CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues said,
“I would like to thank Pia and all those who worked with her and were part of the coaching staff,” said CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues.
“During this period, from 2019 to the present, Pia has also done work that has been very important for Brazilian football. We wish her every success in her new challenges.”
