President Akufo-Addo Goes To The 63rd ECOWAS Summit

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic, left Ghana on Saturday July 8, 2023, to lead the Ghanaian delegation to the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, which is taking place in Bissau, the capital of the Republic of Guinea Bissau.

The ECOWAS Single Currency Programme, the impending withdrawal of MINUSMA from Mali, and the political impasse in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Guinea will all be discussed at the meeting of the heads of state.

President Akufo-Addo was joined by the Minister for National Security, Hon. Albert Kan Dapaah, and officials of the Presidency and the Foreign Ministry.

In accordance with Article 60(8) of the Constitution, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will take over in his absence when the President returns to Ghana on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
