President Mahama Not Happy With NDC Supporters Destroying State Properties

National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters have been urged by President John Dramani Mahama to abstain from intimidating people, and damaging, or robbing state properties.

He has cautioned party members not to repeat the mistakes attributed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and asked them to act responsibly and refrain from actions that could erode Ghanaians’ trust.

The President’s comments follow allegations that people allegedly supporting the NDC are looting and destroying state properties.

Mr. Mahama cautioned supporters of this evil deed during his remarks at the National Muslim Prayer and Thanksgiving held on January 10 at the National Mosque at Kanda in Accra.

“I call on all our supporters and others engaged in illegal actions, such as looting goods and occupying government offices, to desist from such practices. We must do things differently to maintain the trust and confidence Ghanaians have placed in us.

“Many have said it’s the same thing the NPP did in 2017, and that is why Ghanaians voted them out. We must not copy their mistakes. I plead with you, let us do things in an orderly manner.”

The president urged NDC members to use restraint and let his soon-to-be ministers handle their grievances.

“Government is being formed, ministers will be put in place, other officials will be appointed. And as I said, we will have our full cabinet in 14 days.

“And so we will have ministers in charge if you have any issues you consult any of the ministers and have it resolved. So, exercise restraint. Many [people have said it is the same thing the NPP said when they came into 2017.”
