
As of April 2025, the Ghanaian cedi (GHS) has demonstrated relative stability against the U.S. dollar (USD), marking a notable improvement compared to its performance in 2024.
The cedi has depreciated by approximately 4.0% against the U.S. dollar so far in 2025, according to the World Bank’s April 2025 Africa Pulse Report. This is a significant improvement compared to 2024, when the cedi lost over 17% of its value against the dollar.
The cedi traded at GH¢15.95 to $1 in the retail market on April 2, 2025.
On April 8, 2025, the cedi traded at GH¢16.05 to $1 in the forex market, with a buying rate of GH¢15.42 and a selling rate of GH¢15.84.
Then on April 25, 2025, the interbank exchange rate stood at GH¢15.31 to $1.
As at now, the average USD/GHS exchange rate for 2025 is approximately GH¢15.332 per $1.

However, the lowest exchange rate in 2025 was GH¢14.698 per $1 on January 2.
With strong central bank support and better interbank liquidity, analysts predict that the cedi may see modest increases against the US dollar in the near future.
In comparison to the previous year, the Ghanaian cedi’s performance in 2025 indicates a more stable economic climate, and it is anticipated to continue to appreciate modestly versus the US dollar.
