Elsie Effah Kaufmann, the dean of the School of Engineering Sciences, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) in the United Kingdom. She joins 72 other notable engineers and innovators who were announced at the Academy’s Annual General Meeting on September 23, 2025, as one of only two academics from Africa to be elected this year.
Her exceptional leadership in engineering teaching and research, together with her noteworthy contributions to national and worldwide discussions on science, technology, and innovation, are acknowledged by Prof. Kaufmann’s election.
One of the greatest honors in the field is the Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowship, which is given to people who have significantly improved lives by advancing knowledge, innovating, and using engineering. Fellows offer knowledgeable counsel on some of the most important issues facing the globe and are selected from academia, business, and government.
