Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has officially ended her tenure as Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa (WUA).
She recently performed her final academic ritual in Harare, Zimbabwe, to commemorate the university’s 20th anniversary and a significant career milestone.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, who has been locked in with WUA for over six years, portrayed her final duties as both satisfied and troubled.
She worked closely with the Women’s University in Africa family while serving as Chancellor, contributing to the university’s expansion and success.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang met with university principals, faculty, Council members, student leaders, and other important stakeholders in her final days in Harare.
The culmination of the week’s activities was the graduation ceremony, at which she had the privilege of awarding diplomas, degrees, and prizes to a number of outstanding students.

Considering her excursion with the University, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang offered her thanks and conviction that the University would continue taking huge steps.
She stated, “We are family – and family does not truly leave family behind,”
As she says her final goodbye to her official duties, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang leaves a tradition of commitment and administration, confident that WUA will keep on kicking off something new in propelling education and empowering women across Africa.
