Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Receives Induction As One Of Eight New Members Of The Governing Council Of The Association Of Commonwealth Universities.
Her induction occurs after her appointment on August 1, 2024, is made public.
Prof. Amfo will help to promote global academic partnerships, support research initiatives, and address critical issues facing Commonwealth universities as a member of the ACU Council.
She joins a distinguished group of university leaders charged with shaping international higher education’s future.
Prof. Amfo reacted after her induction,
“I am excited to be part of the ACU Council. Even though it is an onerous responsibility, I believe my experience from various higher education networks on the continent and globally will be useful in this new role.”
On the other hand, the ACU Council expressed its pleasure at the addition of the new members by noting that,
“Our newest members bring a wealth of knowledge and insight, which will be invaluable in helping to shape our strategic plan and ensure the ACU continues to thrive.”
“Other new members joining the Council include Prof. Dr. Syed Humayun Akhter, Bangladesh Open University; Prof. Bruce Dowton, Macquarie University, Australia; Prof. Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Noor Azuan Bin Abu Osman, Universiti Malaya; Prof. C. Raj Kumar, OP Jindal Global University, India; Prof. Benedict Mwavu Mutua, The Technical University of Kenya; Prof. P. S. Shukla, North Eastern Hill University, India; and Prof. Shearer West, University of Nottingham, UK”.
Prof. Amfo has worked to establish the University of Ghana as a global leader in higher education, research, and partnerships ever since she assumed her position as Vice-Chancellor. She has done this by championing impactful research, strategic collaborations, and technology-driven solutions.
