A$AP Rocky has purportedly been accused of two counts of attack with a self loading gun under claims of expressly involving a gun during a firing episode in 2021.
According to Variety, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced that his office had documented charges against the rapper on Monday August 15.
In the proclamation, Gascón expressed that his office directed a careful survey of the evidence in this case and determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.
Talking about the episode, the District Attorney also said, discharging a weapon in a public spot is a serious offense that might have finished with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood”.
A$AP Rocky was previously detained at Los Angeles Airport in April on the suspicion of assault and was later released after three hours following posting a USD 550,000 bond.
The rapper at the time was returning from Barbados where he had accompanied his then-pregnant girlfriend Rihanna. The couple has since welcomed their first child, a baby boy in May.
The shooting incident took place on November 6, 2021 in Hollywood when Rocky allegedly pointed a semi-automatic handgun at the victim, before subsequently drawing the weapon and firing twice in their direction.
While the occurrence brought about no passings, the casualty’s left hand was brushed, requiring clinical treatment. It has been accounted for that the survivor of the episode is A$AP’s former friend.
A$AP Rocky (R) pleaded not guilty to the assault charges during his arraignment hearing at Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center on August 17, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.
A$AP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, has been charged with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm stemming from a November 2021 incident in Hollywood. He remains free on $550,000 bond and is due back in court November 2.
