Reverend Anthony Kwadwo Boakye, founder and General Overseer of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church, has passed away.
According to reports, the charismatic preacher passed away on February 21, 2023, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
The televangelist had been suffering from a stroke since October 23, 2021, according to a statement announcing his passing.
He is said to have been receiving a number of medical treatments to help him recover from the disease after it struck him.
The statement said that these treatments had kept him in good health until he needed to get medical help outside the country.
Sadly, when he finally passed away, preparations for his trip were already underway.
Rev. Boakye resumed his pastoral activities following this impressive improvement in his health, giving virtual homilies on Sundays from his base at an undisclosed location until he physically appeared in church on New Year’s Eve to lead the service himself.

Following that, he continued his physiotherapeutic exercise and met regularly with some church leaders, family members, and his attorney, according to the statement.
It continued,
“On 31st January 2023 his family was compelled to take him back to the hospital when he complained of sharp pains in his left leg.
“It was detected that blood circulation to his left leg was not the best and that there was the need to fly him out of the country to seek further medical care and, if necessary, undergo a surgical operation.
“Preparations were underway to make that journey when he was suddenly taken ill and was rushed to the Cardiothoracic Centre at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. Unfortunately, he gave up the ghost around 2:00 am on Tuesday 21st February 2023”.
The preacher was well-known during his lifetime for his practical sermons that stressed the importance of Christians living a holy life while relying on God’s power.
These points were emphasized in both his live and recorded Sunday sermons, as well as in other evangelical events he held all over the country.
Additionally, his signature delivery in the local Twi dialect won him a large following; resulting in the growth of branches beyond Kasoa, the church’s headquarters.
Also well-known was Reverend Anthony Kwadwo Boakye’s generosity to the underprivileged in society; including people who are confined to a bed, flood victims, and others who are in need.
Arrangements for the funeral have not yet been made public.
“We entreat all members of the church and the general public to keep him in your prayers for God to grant him peaceful repose in the bosom of Abraham, our father in faith.
Funeral arrangements will be communicated to the public in due course”, the statement on his death, which was signed by his legal counsel, Alexander K. K. Abban concluded.
