One of the best football players in Brazilian history, Ronaldo Nazário, has spoken out about his intention to run for president of the country’s federation (CBF).
On Monday, December 16, the 48-year-old Brazil striker made this revelation.
Ronaldo will run in the 2026 CBF elections to succeed current president Ednaldo Rodrigues. Ronaldo won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994 and 2002.
“Among hundreds of things that motivate me to become a candidate for president of the CBF, I want to recover this prestige and respect that the Selecao [Brazil’s national team] always had and today nobody else has,” he told Globo Esporte.
The former super-striker for Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid also stated that he plans to sell his ownership of Real Valladolid, a team in the top division of Spain.
The football legend claims that they are in the process of negotiating a potential sale. Ronaldo declared that his candidacy would not be hampered by the sale.
Earlier this year, Ronaldo sold his 90% ownership of Cruzeiro, a Brazilian team.
He is the president and owner of Real Valladolid, a team in La Liga. He is regarded as one of the greatest players of all time and goes by the nickname ‘O Fenômeno’.
