Rose Hamilton Backs Out From The Council Of State Race

Mrs. Rose Hamilton has declared that she will not be participating in the rerun of the Ashanti Regional Council of State election.

She cited the violent disturbances that plagued the first voting on February 11, 2025, as the reason for the withdrawal.

Her campaign team said in a statement issued on Sunday, February 16, that the decision was made after considering the consequences of the confusion that occurred during the election, resulting in ballots being destroyed and lives being put in danger.

The Statement:

“As a firm believer in democracy, peace, and the unity of our great region, Mrs. Rose Hamilton has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the rerun election scheduled for tomorrow, February 17, 2025. This decision is not out of fear but out of her unwavering commitment to ensuring peace in Ashanti and Ghana as a whole. No political position is worth the loss of lives or the destabilization of our democratic process.”

Although the police have begun looking into the incident, no one has been taken into custody as of yet.

Hamilton, the CEO of the Crystal Rose Ambassador Hotel, thanked her family, campaign team, and supporters for their unwavering commitment during the campaign.

She urged the Electoral Commission and security forces to guarantee a free and fair election and reiterated her dedication to serving the Ashanti Region in other significant ways.
