Sine her days at the University of Ghana, Roselyn Felli has had a strong interest in arts and entertainment. While others were short of the course (Theater Arts) — Roselyn was simply cheerful to be offering the course.
She actually chose that course because she aspired to be an excellent stage actor. In a recent interview with Afia Amankwaah Tamakloe on ‘Mahyease3’ (My Beginning) on Adom TV, the frank, yet loving media character was sincere about how she was just enamored with the course.
She spent elementary, junior high, and senior high school juggling between Kumasi, Accra, Sunyani, and Takoradi before enrolling at the University of Ghana’s Theatre arts department.
Through the late veteran actor and administrator Ekow Blankson, she made her way into the media space.
Before meeting Ekow, Roselyn got into acting a little — where she did a couple of television series including ‘L&G’ — a peak program and a full film titled ‘Till Death Do Us Part’, which was produced by Kobi Rana.
She was still very particular about doing stage acting because, she believed that doing so would make her a much more professional actor who could handle any challenge in the acting field.
Roselyn has also collaborated with a number of talented stage directors, including Naa Ashorkor and Fiifi Coleman. She also once had the ability to direct her own productions.
She claims that the theater helped mold her into the media industry, which she has worked in for the past nine years. In fact, she really didn’t realize she will get into media, however she ultimately did it through theater.
How she got her start in the media:
Roselyn quit her job with an insurance company because she didn’t feel like it was her “calling.” When she heard about Starr FM, a new radio station owned by Bola Ray (Nat Kwabena Adisi), she was at home.
The award-winning TV host immediately called Bola Ray since she had his number through her insurance work. That was it! Her media journey started.
Before moving to TV Africa, where she met Ekow Blankson, she worked tirelessly for four years at Starr FM without receiving any compensation.
She actually met her husband while working at Starr FM. Roselyn had a dream to remain in the media space, so she was Unbothered about the pay.
After all, she was running her own little business. After putting on an impressive performance on a live show, her godfather Ekow Blankson kept her at TV Africa for three years. After that, she got a job offer from Multimedia.
Until this point in time, she hasn’t confronted any challenges yet, as per her.
Roselyn Felli is currently the host of ‘Changes‘ and Cohost of ‘Prime Morning‘ on Joy Prime TV.
