Rwanda Women’s Coach Suspended. This Is Her ‘Crime’

Grace Nyinawumuntu

The Rwanda Football Federation has suspended its women’s national team head coach, Grace Nyinawumuntu, for a remark they believe is distasteful against the Black Queens of Ghana.

According to the coach, Ghana’s Black Queens are “like men”. Grace said this after Ghana’s women’s national team beat her side 7-0 in their 2023 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played in Kigali almost a week ago.

She said her players were “scared” of the Black Queens since they were “like men”.

“They have girls who we think have male hormones. They are girls who are like men,” she said.

“Our team was scared… when they got to the pitch, they conceded because they were scared.”

However, in light of Grace Nyinawumuntu’s comments, the Rwanda Football Federation said she has been “suspended until further notification, due to the unseemly choice of words she used after the game between Rwanda and Ghana,” as cited by the AFP.

With This, The Future Of The Black Queens Is Guaranteed

“The remarks made by the coach of the national women about the players of the Ghana national women’s team are in violation of the rules and values of football in Rwanda.”

“We remind members of Ferwafa to desist from behaviour and remarks that are not aligned with the truth, have no factual basis and are not professional.”

Interestingly, This is not the first time Grace Nyinawumuntu has been suspended as a coach. In 2017, AS Kigali Women suspended her after sexual harassment allegations by the players.
