Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Andrew Egyapa Mercer has unveiled Sekondi’s First Creative Arts Hall of Fame.
The celebration honors the exceptional talents that have shaped Ghana’s creative sector and pays tribute to Sekondi’s deep cultural roots as a musical hub.
Numerous Ghanaian music icons have been discovered at The Hall, which can be found at Duawusu in Asamansudu, a suburb of Sekondi.
Pioneers in the creative arts industry are honored in the Creative Arts Hall of Fame for their lifetime accomplishments.
According to the Minister, the halls of fame are a testament to the power of creativity in shaping the world and driving economic growth.
The Minister stated,
“The creative arts sector is not only a vital contributor to our economy but also fuels tourism, stimulates export revenues, and creates numerous job opportunities, highlighting the sector’s significance to the economy.
Paapa Yankson, AB Crentsil, Felicia Abban, Ebo Taylor, Kwaw Ansah, Jewel Ackah, Mike Eghan, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, CK Mann, and Nana Bosompra are among Ghana’s most well-known creative artists in the inaugural class.
Ghana’s cultural heritage has been enhanced and the country’s global standing has grown as a result of these legends.
Egyapa Mercer also talked about plans to incorporate the Hall of Fame into the renovations that are currently taking place at the Centre for National Culture in Sekondi. The goal is to replicate the project all over the country so that every region has a place to show off the creative talents that are unique to it.

The Minister also made the announcement that, new inductees would be added each year during the World Tourism Day celebrations to ensure that Ghana’s artists, musicians, filmmakers, and cultural icons would always be recognized for their contributions.
In addition, Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, expressed his gratitude to the various stakeholders in the industry who contributed to the project’s success.
Leaders from the business world, religious leaders, traditional chiefs, and youth groups all attended the event. On October 22, 2024, an official induction ceremony is scheduled.
