Spain’s Luis Enrique Heading To The Premier League?

Luis Enrique, a former coach for Barcelona and Spain, has stated that he would like to manage in the English Premier League, but he has not yet received any offers from England.

After Antonio Conte left this week, Luis Enrique has been linked to Tottenham. Enrique has been out of a job since leaving the Spain national team following their exit from the 2022 World Cup.

Senior Spurs executives have identified Julian Nagelsmann, the former manager of Bayern Munich, as one of several potential candidates for the new manager, according to sources.

Enrique says that he follows every Premier League game with great interest because he wants to work in England one day.

“I wouldn’t go to any team but to one that could do important things, which greatly reduces the number. I don’t put my hopes up, really, because there are many candidates”, he said.

The 52-year-old added that he does not intend to return to management immediately. He denied rumours that he has been linked to the vacant Brazil national team employment opportunity yet didn’t preclude taking in another national team job.

“I am lucky because my personal life fills me up,” he said. “That it takes longer, that no offers arrive, well, it is what it is. I would go to a team with possibilities. That doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t work in Spain.

“There are several national teams that are looking for a manager. I don’t think I have the profile to guide a national team like that of Brazil.

“No one from Brazil has contacted me. I’ve had offers from national teams but not from clubs. I don’t rule it out. It would have to be a very, very powerful national team for me to accept.”

The successful three-year tenure at Barca was led by the coach of Celta Vigo and Roma.

He won the Champions League, LaLiga title and the Copa del Rey in his most memorable season in control. He went on to win the Copa and the LaLiga two more times.
