Kofi Adams, Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, says since taking office, he has not come across any “mafia” techniques at the Sports Ministry. Adams acknowledged receiving warnings about suspected clandestine activity in the ministry during an appearance on Channel One TV. However, he made it clear that his experience has been devoid of such problems.
“I have heard that, but I haven’t seen it since coming here. It’s been normal business for me.”
He went on to say that, since his job does not directly handle money, there is less chance that he will be connected to any financial wrongdoing.
Hon. Adams asserts that handling money is not his responsibility as a minister. “You are not the lead spender of the funds, and you are not a signatory to the account.”

Adams was warned about the ministry’s history of internal strife and destabilizing strategies before he was appointed. In spite of these cautions, he said he was confident in his capacity to handle difficulties and that he was inspired to meet any problems head-on.
Adams underlined the value of cooperation over conflict when tackling issues in the sports industry. Although he warns that persistent barriers to progress will be immediately addressed, he supports the idea of recognizing and resolving issues jointly.
