Saudi Arabian side Al Ettifaq has consented to hire the services of Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard to manage the team. Gerrard will receive millions to build a superstar team that wins titles.
After refusing to accept any deal from Al Ettifaq in June 2023, he is now set to be confirmed as their manager of the club.
The club’s bosses are in London, and is convincing Gerrard to make them a prevailing power in Saudi.
Gerrard, a legendary Liverpool player who initially stated that he would not be joining them, will assume leadership of the Saudi club with the intention of competing for the title the next season.
Speaking recently, Gerrard, who has been unemployed since leaving Aston Villa last season, denied he would be taking the work in Saudi.
‘I was invited over there to look at a potential offer, I’ve been analysing that but where I stand right now I won’t be taking it on,’ he said.
However, discussions have resumed, and the former England captain will become the latest high-profile individual to join the Saudi Pro League.
Reports say Al Ettifaq bosses, are on the verge of concluding Gerrard’s arrangement.
Gerrard is set to be followed by a number of high profile players from Europe in the coming days with the club ready to spend heavily to build a team with the capacity to win trophies.
Gerrard is taking up his third managerial post after a distinguished playing career.
