Tems: The First Nigerian To Be Nominated For Oscar Award

Nigerian singer who goes by Temilade Openiyi and goes by Tems is up for the 95th Oscar Award, which will be presented on March 12, 2023.

Her inclusion on the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ most recent 2023 list was announced on Tuesday, January 24.

Before the 95th Academy Awards, which will be held in Los Angeles, Tems was nominated for “Best Original Song.”

She was nominated for “Best Original Song” for her work with Rihanna on the song “Lift Me Up.” The duo was up for a nomination for “Best Original Song.”

One of the songs from Marvel’s “Black Panther: soundtracks for Wakanda Forever. The soulful song was co-written by Rihanna and Tems. Ryan Coogler directed the film and Ludwig Göransson produced the music.

Many fans of the singer, particularly Nigerians are excited about the singer’s nomination because it comes just a week after the famous American rapper Snoop Dogg asked to work with her.
