
In a large ceremony on Monday, December 30 at the Accra International Conference Centre, President Akufo-Addo awarded national honors to people who have achieved success in a variety of fields, acknowledging their contributions to the advancement of the country via diligence, sacrifice, and hard work.
Dignitaries such as the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo, Ministers of State, and other prominent citizens and government officials attended the ceremony.
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was one of the honorees; he was given the highest honor in the nation, the “Order of the Star of Ghana – Officer Awardee.”
Members of Parliament and government appointees who were honored for their outstanding service were also added to the list of award recipients.
The “Order of the Volta-Officer Awardee” for Public Service was given to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, MP for Manhyia South, who was the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP in the just ended elections.
The ‘Order of the Volta – Officer’ category recognised several MPs and government appointees, including Ignatius Baffour Awuah, Kweku Ofori Asiamah, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, Dr Kwaku Afriyie, Mavis Hawa Koomson, Ambrose Dery, Dominic Nitiwul, and Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto.
Renowned individuals in the Creative Arts field, including Kwaw Ansah, Daddy Lumba, Gyedu Blay Ambolley, and Juliet Asante, were also honored for their outstanding contributions to Ghanaian culture.
The event emphasized how crucial these people have been in influencing the growth of the country and promoting advancement in a variety of fields.
